Collaborative Law is a nationwide movement begun by family lawyers and counselors to manage the divorce process in a more respectful manner than is often found at the courthouse. In the collaborative process, family attorneys and their clients:
- Agree in writing to reach a divorce settlement without court involvement.
- Pledge to work together to resolve property, custody, child support and other issues related to their divorce.
- Combine all their skills in advocacy, negotiation and problem solving to come to an arrangement that works best for everyone involved.
