For lawyers across the state, the State Bar of Texas is an important organization. Every lawyer in Texas is a member. The Collaborative Law Institute of Texas has had a strong relationship with the State Bar, which co-sponsors our annual spring conference. That meeting has become an outstanding forum where Collaborative professionals gather to be brought up-to-date on the latest developments in Collaborative Law in Texas.
Now, the State Bar of Texas has done something that will have an additional significant impact on how we share information and educate lawyers about Collaborative Law — making us even better prepared to meet the needs of Texans as awareness of Collaborative Law grows.
By designating a Collaborative Law section, the State Bar of Texas is further bringing CollaborativeLaw into the mainstream of what Texas lawyers do. We made an official announcement to media this week, in advance of our participating at this year’s State Bar of Texas Conference in Fort Worth June 10-11, but wanted to share it here as well. For those of you throughout Texas who support Collaborative Law, this is a moment to be proud. It’s the culmination of work put in not just by lawyers, but by a great number of other professionals, as well as numerous couples who put their trust in the Collaborative process for settling issues that arise in divorce situations.
This is a great way to advance the practice of collaborative law.
